DESCRIPTION:We’re joining the epic Polar Bear Pitching experience by Streaming the Avanto Competition! \nPolar Bear Pitching is the coolest startup event in Oulu\, where startups have anopportunity to pitch without a timelimit\, but under one condition–they have to do it from a real ice hole (fin. “avanto”)! \n\n\n\nWhile the pitchers shiver in the ice water to deliver their pitch\, we are going to cheer them from comfortably warm Circus. This is an opportunity to meet\, reunite and network with BusinessUp almni and startup community members. \nCircus is located on the top floor of ElectroCity. The space has a sauna and hot tub\, so bring your swimsuit and towel with you! Who knows\, sauna and hot tub may be a good place for you and your team to get inspired and work up some courage to participate in the pitching competition next year. It is a hybrid event combining on-site presentations and discussions\, online matchmaking and guided tours of tech industry premises in Turku. Most of the sessions take place around the Kupittaa district in Turku. A selection of the week’s sessions are streamed\, which enables the international participants to take part remotely. \nThe strength of the Turku region lies in the close cross-sectoral cooperation between different industries and universities—networking comes naturally in Turku. During the week\, we will take a closer look at this collaboration\, its outcomes and future perspectives such as latest research topics and their applications for industries. \nThe week’s themes include health technologies\, digitalization & cybersecurity\, manufacturing industries and maritime technologies. \nThe week is not only about showcasing the latest technologies but also about finding new business opportunities and expanding networks. Following the 2022 Nordic Business Forum live stream event that was arranged in collaboration with WTC Turku\, Turku Science Park and Visitor and Innovation Centre Joki\,  a new way of learning\, networking\, and having fun in 2023 was introduced: The Best Book Club. \nThe Book Club meets every other month to discuss a book that is seleceted together with the club members. \nRegister now as a member\, it’s free to join\, but everyone will take care of arranging the reading materials themselves.
